"I can't believe it was Dan. Gossip Girl. We watched the entire series to find out... it's Dan." ― Pierre to Emily in Ringarde
Pierre Cadault is an haute couture fashion designer who struggles to relate to the audience that is today's youth.
Biography[]
Pierre's past is sprinkled with drama, intrigue, romance, and fashion - all the things that make up the theatrical man that everyone worships today. From his feud with Valentino to his affair with Elton John, he has become quite the cultural icon despite his disdain for social media.
Pierre was living in London when he gained custody of his thirteen-year-old nephew, Mathieu. Mathieu explains his childhood as unstable but something new happened every day. Pierre's moods were difficult for Mathieu to handle at first, but he eventually learned how to manage them.
Season 1[]
After many years of persistence, Pierre finally accepted a meeting with the marking firm Savoir. The three executives sent to meet with him waited dutifully for Pierre to arrive, and he approved of the first two executives, Sylvie Grateau and Julien. He was appalled by the pink bag accessory worn by the third executive and called her "ringarde" - basic, before storming out of the room. The next night the executive, Emily Cooper, surprised Pierre at the opening night of Swan Lake. She was able to win him over with her blunt honesty, charm, and sophisticated delivery of her speech. He appreciated her knowledge of Gossip Girl and agreed to take a meeting with Savoir to make them his official marketing agency.
Emily approached Pierre's nephew and head of business affairs, Mathieu, about donating a dress for the American Friends of the Louvre charity auction. Despite being busy with fashion week, Pierre agreed to donate a dress. He was honored to attend the event and thrilled that his dress auctioned off for 38,000 euros. The excitement soon turned to horror when the Grey Space designers who purchased the dress shot the dress with paintball guns for a PR stunt. Pierre broke down in sobs in Mathieu's arms at the sight.
The event created a catalyst in Pierre's life and he spiraled into what he called his "darkest hour" and refused to partake in fashion week. He surrendered his location, which Grey Space promptly used for their runway. Pierre believed himself to be old and a symbol of the past, unable to relate to the modern youth. After having a breakthrough with his fashion design, he decided to retake fashion week with the help of Emily and Savoir. He reclaimed his fashion week location and crashed through the gates with a whole new line of couture clothing and a fresh outlook on his career.
Personality[]
Pierre is best described as a dramatic, theatrical, and eccentric fashion designer with a knack for blunt honesty. He is very exclusive in the company he keeps and while he is prideful of his finished products, he can be shy about showing people his unfinished projects and prefers to wait until they are perfect. This perfectionist attitude almost cost him his career, until he had an epiphany regarding the future of his line.
Relationships[]
Emily Cooper[]
Pierre was first introduced to Emily when he decided to take a meeting with Savoir. When he reached Emily in the line he was appalled by her bag charm and called her, "ringarde" which means "basic". Emily refused to accept this and surprised him at the ballet where she was able to win him over with her honesty, heart, and knowledge of Gossip Girl. Pierre then coined Emily as Gossip Girl and insisted that she be in every meeting he took with Savoir. They formed an interesting friendship, with Emily helping him take back Fashion Week.
