Madeline Wheeler is a powerhouse marketing executive who is ready to take the world by storm, starting with the Gilbert Group's latest acquisition Savoir. The French marketing firm represents luxury brands but needs Gilbert Group's help to market for the American consumer. They chose Madeline to live in Paris for a year until the company can fully transition. Madeline gushes about her new job to Emily Cooper, her bright-eyed marketing representative. As they sniff a perfume, Madeline becomes ill. She learns she is pregnant and can't travel, which means she can't move to Paris for a year. She offers Emily as her replacement, promising the girl a promotion and hefty raise upon her return to the States. Emily agrees and jets off to Paris, though she has trouble acclimating to the French culture. Madeline does her best to support Emily and give her professional advice whilst on her journey.
Season 2[]

Her impending arrival causes quite the stir in Savoir, especially from Sylvie who isn't a fan of Madeline or the changes she wants to make. Madeline fires Sylvie, who in turn, quits from the job. She stages a coup to take the entire office staff with her - including Emily.

She overlooks and brushes off concerns that the French workers bring up, adamant that she can fix them if they learn to work within the Gilbert Group's worth ethics.

Emily Cooper[]
Madeline mentored Emily throughout her career, the two of them became very close during their time working together at the Gilbert Group. When they landed the acquisition of Savoir and Madeline found out she was pregnant, she sent Emily in her stead to ease the transition. When she found out Emily wanted to leave Savoir for Sylvie's new company, she was understandably hurt.
