Alfie seemingly leaves for London after his fight with Emily, though Gabriel and Camille know he stayed in France to take a job at Maison Lavaux, which Emily learns through work instead of her friends or Alfie. To help make things right, Gabriel invites Alfie to Mindy's show, where Emily performs a grand gesture to win back her boyfriend that works.

Gabriel finds himself busier than usual with his restaurant, which doesn't leave time for Camille, which he confides in Alfie about. When Gabriel is suddenly short-staffed, a recently unemployed Emily steps in and becomes a waitress at Chez Lavaux, unbeknownst to Camille. In spite of Emily's people skills, her less than fluent French causes a customer to have an allergic reaction. Gabriel fires her, but imparts that she should stop turning life into a job and start living. She takes his advice until she's hired at Sylvie's firm, Agence Grateau. She brings Janine Dubois, the writer of La Liste, into Chex Lavaux and she's so impressed she puts Gabriel on her coveted list. After Agence Grateau loses a venue for a McLaren event, Emily proposes using Antoine's chateau in Provence. Antoine hires Gabriel to serve the party, which excites Alfie who hears the news while on a double date with Camille and Gabriel. Camille decides to stay back to "work" with Sofia. The trio takes the train to Provence, with Gabriel wanting to try a Michelin star restaurant once they arrive. When Alfie drops out, Emily and Gabriel go out for lunch - and everyone mistakes them for being a "beautiful couple". Gabriel bonds with the head chef who balances his personal and professional life perfectly. He admires the chefs children, wife, and happy life dynamics.

Life back in Paris doesn't seem to go well for Gabriel, who is missing Camille since she's still in Greece with Sofia. Feeling bad for him, Mindy invites him to a film event where she, Emily, Nicolas de Leon, and his friends will be that night. Emily is paired with Gabriel, who endures flirting from one of Nicolas' friends and a proposition for a ménage à trois. Emily and Gabriel decide to leave the film and end up having fun at an eclectic art show. As they say goodnight, he confides in her about his issues with Camille, though she doesn't say much in response. A few days later, he texts Emily asking if they can meet for a drink, though he's already drunk when she arrives. He believes Camille is having an affair with men in Greece because she never truly forgave him for his relationship with Emily. He fell in love with her the moment he laid eyes on her, but also loves Camille. She helps him to his apartment and tells him goodnight. The next time Emily sees him, she learns he and Camille are back together and happier than ever. He also doesn't recall the drunken confessions he made the other night.

Gabriel also bargains with Antoine to have more control over the restaurant, leveraging another offer to get what he wants. When Antoine caves, Gabriel admits to Alfie there wasn't another offer. He later tells Emily and Alfie that he plans to propose to Camille, which Alfie thinks ties in perfectly with Emily's social media campaign for a new client. After Gabriel agrees during a late night text, the duo scout possible locations for the proposal. He admits that after Camille returned from Greece, they opened up to each other in a way they never had before. He thanks Emily for being a great friend. That night, Mindy, Alfie, Camille, and Emily attend the opening of L'Esprit de Gigi.

Gabriel and Camille host an engagement party at her parents Chateau in Provence. As the party rages on, Luc calls Emily to tell her that Gabriel is getting a Michelin star. She shares the news with Gabriel who is elated, and he kisses her hands giddily. Their moment is seen by Camille. He shares with everyone that he's getting a Michelin star and wants to get married that night. Everyone takes a seat for the ceremony, with Gabriel happily saying the vows. Camille falters than assures him he doesn't have to do this. She knows he loves Emily and that she loves him. They've been in love since they saw each other. She tells him about the ill-fated pact the girls made. She's done pretending and leaves the chapel in a flurry of emotion, shouting at her mother that this is her life and the choice is made. Alfie asks Emily if what Camille said is true, and she can't deny it. She stops him from leaving but he's nobody's second choice. He tells her to go get her man, but she argues that he's her man. He insists he isn't and doesn't think he ever really was. After the dust settles, Emily finds Gabriel sitting alone. She thought the pact was the right thing. She's always had feelings for him and probably always will. Gabriel admits the truth of why he proposed to Camille when she returned from Greece - she's pregnant.

He begins a frantic search for his missing ex until Emily outs Camille's relationship with Sofia to Gabriel. Ultimately, Gabriel forgives Camille in lieu of her being pregnant. They reunite outside his apartment building, courtesy of Emily, and he facilitates a reunion between Camille and Sofia, who are in love.

The women stay with him as they search for their own place, which frustrates Emily who feels he isn't doing what's right for himself. While using her shower, Gabriel overhears her venting and that she isn't dating Alfie anymore. This prompts Gabriel to finally admit to Emily that he still has feelings for her, and he woos wins her over at the masquerade ball where they leave together in a horse drawn carriage. Their relationship flourishes as they stay together through the ups and downs that come their way, including Gabriel learning how Luc's girlfriend Marianne lied about being a Michelin star. With a sense of relief over not having to overperform any longer, Gabriel feels refreshed in his restaurant and starts making decisions that he likes instead of what will impress a star taster. They also navigate Camille and Sofia living in his apartment, though the women move next door instead. He spends the holidays with Camille and her family, trying to balance his new life with an unexpectedly present Emily and the traditions he has with Camille. After seeing Gabriel choose Camille again, Emily breaks up with Gabriel, stressing this is why their relationship can never work.
